Disk Mirroring Unit Available for Extra Data Protection
DBMS is including RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Drives) controllers as a standard on new systems and as an add-on option for existing systems. This disk mirroring comes in the form of an operating system independent unit and an additional mirrored drive. Adding this unit to your system will reduce or eliminate any down time caused by a hard disk failure! With the advent of flash drive and CD backup, the tape backup systems are being phased out and replaced by faster, more efficient and less costly USB flash devices! KEY-POS Now Available on Windows???
For those who prefer Windows servers over Linux, KEY-POS is now available to run on D3 Windows formerly known as D3 NT. D3 Windows from Tiger Logic is an alternative to D3 Linux, also from Tiger Logic. DBMS still recommends that all NEW users have their KEY-POS servers run on CentOS Linux. Linux is both a community and commercially supported base. Windows has many security holes where Linux does not. KEY-POS Version 8.5.2.31 Now Available on FTP

New IDT keyboards come standard!
We are now including IDT keyboards with built in Magnetic Stripe Readers (Credit Card Readers) as standard components in our systems at no extra charge.
E-mail and Fax Invoice and Statements Now Available through the Accuterm and the Print Wizard
KEY-POS now supports the E-mailing and Faxing of invoices and statements for those whose local area networks are connected to the internet. The Print Wizard product is required to enable these processes. Print Wizard is available through DBMS or Rasmussen software.
KEY-POS Now Available as Software Only
KEY-POS licenses can now be obtained as software only for those who wish to run KEY-POS on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 using D3 for Windows from Tigerlogic (Formerly known as D3 NT).
Drexel Management Credit Card Processing Available
KEY-POS now supports credit card processing from Drexel Manangement. A PC running Windows on the network and a constant internet connection is required. All credit card management is then done via the web. Visit them at http://www.drexelmgt.com
Signature Capture and Debit Cards
KEY-POS now support Signature Capture and Debit Card processing by way of a Verifone unit sold by Drexel Management. Signature capture also requires AccuTerm and Print Wizard applications be installed on a Windows-based register.
New GUI Visual Style Available
Beginning with Release 8.0 KEY-POS now has an optional new GUI look. For those running Windows registers, workstations or servers, the addition of AccuTerm will allow a GUI display. This interface gives the Windows look and feel to our application.
Avoiding System Slowdown and Fragmentation
Is your system starting to slow down? Are your filesaves taking longer and longer to finish? Has your data outgrown the size of one tape? It may be time to resize your files and perform a full restore. As your data expands and contracts the data on your hard drive can become fragmented. Using the KEY-POS utilities, mark your files for resizing, perform a file-save and a full restore to optimize server performance. Performing this process quarterly will defragment your hard drive and keep your system working efficiently. Please contact DBMS Support @ 1-888-862-0662 extension 2 to inform us of your desire to perform maintenance so we can be on standby in case any problems arise.
Flash Drives for Backup
KEY-POS now supports Flash Drives or Thumb Drives for backups and restores. The caveat, Linux just does not like certain flash drives. Be sure to contact us for a list of drives that other users have successfully used before making a purchase. You can also back up your system to a PC connected on the network.
Tape Drive Maintenance
Don???t forget to clean your tape drive! The tape drive cleaning kit supplied by DBMS Inc. when you purchased your system should be used after every 8 hours of tape usage. Also, any time a brand new tape is used, the drive should be cleaned afterward. Your tape backup unit is one of the most important components in your system. Take good care of it!
A Can of Air Goes a Long Way
Heat is the enemy of your computer system. Dust accumulation inside the case on the internal components causes heat to build up on those components. Every 6 months to a year you should slip the case off of your main server and use a can of clean air to blow the dust off of all the internal components and off the fan in the power supply in the back of the unit. You will be glad you did.

Test Your UPS !
We want to remind you to test your UPS or Battery Backups. Since your UPS uses a battery, that battery is subject to the same wear and tear as any other battery. As such, the battery, or entire UPS may need occasional replacement. The function of your UPS is to give you enough time to properly shutdown your system during an unexpected power outage, as well as provide constant power during power fluctuations. Additionally, the UPS also provides for a surge protection and line conditioning.
